Where to place our Safety Program in our QMS?

We are implementing a safety program and we want to have all the documents and written procedures controlled and part of the QMS. My question is - what section of the standard should we place our Safety Program documents? Initially I was thinking 7.2 Qualification and Awareness. Or should it be in 7.1.3 Maintenance and Infrastructure?

Hello, you can pick the following areas:
  • Management Commitment – Executives should be committed to guaranteeing the production of quality and safe products and services.
  • Continuous Improvement – Organisations should regularly assess the effectiveness of the Quality Management System and their health and safety hazard controls.
  • Communication – There should be a unified program to communicate policies and objectives across all organization levels.
or you can seek out In clause 6.4 of ISO 9001, organisations must identify and manage the work environment required to produce quality products and services. Physical factors such as hygiene, noise, and human factors such as employee supervision are some of the areas to be considered.

hope this helps

If you're going to help please use a correct reference.....There is no 6.4 in ISO 9001, so no it doesn't help

No don't do any of it...........Documents would need to be controlled and that's under 7.5.

But why are you putting it into your Quality Program? If anything it would be complimentary to 7.1.4 Environment for the operation of processes..........BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Just look at the attached to help you out..........However if you are in South Carolina you'd better have a Safety Program in place yesterday meeting 29CFR 1910 General Industry

I am just going off what my CQO wants. And we have two facilities - one in California, one in North Carolina. :)

In the document that Randy has attached, there are one too many zeros in the first column... 45001 not 450001, but this is a great aid; thanks Randy

My bad I was looking in my quality manual. I guess its ok when the "super Moderator" puts an extra 0 in his statement... so forget my 6.4 reference.

Oops, understandable now...At least it seems your manual isn't the usual boring cut & paste
