Full Material Disclosure

Hello my name is Mike,

I was recently asked to provide a full material declaration of a product we produce. Can be through IMDS, IPC1752A, or just straight up email.

It is an electronic control module that consists of a circuit board in a potted enclosure and a wired pushbutton. I have no clue where to start with this and what is actually needed. If anyone could give me some pointers that would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

long story

The IPC is an ISO standard set up years ago by PCB manufacturing companies. In short - it is an excel table breaking down CAS #'s of components and materials found in PCBA.

If electronics are to be created in the IMDS - they need to follow the rules of IMDS Recommendation 019 E/E (Electric/Electronic) components. Note the IMDS is simply a tool made available at no cost by the auto OEM's. The IMDS is not a law or regulation - it may be a contractual requirement from your customer (just like a PPAP requirement)

As always - it's best to get guidance from your customer asking for the full disclosure.

More info is found in a magazine article I published years ago in Circuit Assembly Magazine. Some of the details may be outdated but the article still conveys the difference between the two
