Good morning my dears

Long time no talk!! How is everybody??

I have just started new job and the new company is trying to implement ISO 50001. They already have ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

I have never worked with the energy standard.

Any ideas where to start???
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I have no idea what I am doing with this one :frust:

Thank you !!!!

Does you company do energy management now? I would get the standard read and mark all the shalls and determine the implications on the company. If you are doing energy management you are probably doing most of it. Schneider Electric ( i do not work for them) has a good white paper on it and ISO has guidance documents. There are thousands of dollars to be saved with energy management and it is the gift that keeps on giving. we are not 5001 but i have saved our company well over $500000 US dollars each and every year with what i have done and continue to do.

I would do a gap analysis after you read and mark the shalls to see what they are doing. Regardless of 5001, I would track and report monthly at the least electric, gas (natural and propane) and water. Not sure if you manufacture but tie it to Energy Cost Per unit produced include water (add sewer cost with the water). Many are shocked to see this number, especially if the y operate a discount system for their sales reps. Is a supplier forcing you to do 5001?

No not the supplier. It came from the top. The bosses want all sister companies within the group to have it

If you have a sustainability person, you probably are doing a lot of energy tracking. Feel free to PM me and i will help as much as i can.

I would start with one and then move forward with the others after you have had it in place for about a year. Pick the one that you feel will be more accepting to this. Nice to start off with a smooth success, as it motivates the others.
