I have been asked to define what is required, and what the purpose is, of a Product Assurance Plan.

After reading the APQP manual I am still unclear.

Has anybody got examples of a PA plan or can anyone please provide guidance on what is required ?

Thanks

A product assurance plan is just the overall planning you do for inspection and test coupled with any appropriate process controls. Typically this information goes in the control plan and in part is derived from the Process FMEA. Many times some things are passed down to work instructions for line folks. That's the way I've approached it.

Comments from others?

Re: What is a Product Assurance Plan

i think my view is something differ.

Product assurance plan is some thing given by producer to customer similar to given exe.

though ford or G.M. withdrawl some of the car model from market but still for the some customers they are producing some parts inhouse.

That might be Product assurance plan......

I mean to say that though the product is out of market ,only for the company image.

As well as customarized production company manufacture the sub- assembly or part required.

So that product assurance plan , they cannot led down the customer

And bcoz that only brand name are their.

Re: What is a Product Assurance Plan

Howard, which are the different types of Plans - Control Plan, Quality Plan, QA Plan etc ?

:thanx:

Quality plan is discussed in the thread I referenced above.
Control Plan is an automotive term which takes all stages of the production process, from incoming material to dispatch and describes the controls which are implimented to ensure that the process and the part are conforming.

QA plan probably the same as Quality Plan.

Do you not mean a plan to assure availability of spare parts etc, not a plan to assure the quality of the parts which can refer to parts in any stage of the products life?
