Hola!
I'm from Mexico. Sorry for my bad english but I'm so interesting to consult with all of you one question:
Is Supplier Quality Manuals (received from customers) same as Customer specific requirements?::confused:
In our company we treat both as same- being revised and trying to comply with each requirments- labelings, ppap submission forms, etc. But,Could be a supplier manual be audited to comply with ISO/TS16949?
Thanks in advance for all your support!

Re: supplier manual vs customer specific requirements

If your customer makes the supplier manual a requirement, they are customer specific requirements (even if they don't call them that). So... yes, they can be audited in a TS 16949 audit.

I don't see where that should be of importance to you. The fact of the matter is, as Howste stated, it is a CSR and you would/should only be in any "trouble" if you weren't meeting the directives of the Supplier Quality Manual (as always just my :2cents: ).

Re: supplier manual vs customer specific requirements

This goes right along with the layered audits issue. My feeling is that the contract and CSR should be align as one document. A quote is based on making a profit taken from calculated fixed and variable costs. How can the company properly make money by giving a quote according to a contract, and then have some SQE (supplier quality engineer) come in after the fact and state the "you now must do..." In a 3rd party registrar scenario I would probably just say the CSRs are in the contract and have the auditor use that to audit by!
Again as Ralph stated, why have a TS Standard if you are going to be sidelined by CSRs?

If you have a supplier mannual or CSR, you should audit your supplier according to these requirment ,TS just can be a referance not necessary i think

As an automotive company, are you required to control a customer supplier quality manual in to your Quality Management System?

To the extent it is a document of external origin and impacts your quality system, yes, it has to be “controlled”.

Okay, I was trying to find it in the IATF 1649 standard to show my new quaility director because he's no longer wanting to control them in our QMS system. My previous quality director put all of this in place for a reason and I'm trying to show him he can't just remove it.

Are you aware that the IATF 16949 is an ISO 9001 augmentation and ALL OF ISO 9001 applies? 7.5.3.2
Supplier quality manual vs. Customer specific requirements

@kdavis , in addition to 7.5.3.2, also refer to clause 4.3.2 of IATF16949:2016 standard. There is a requirement to evaluate & include CSRs in the scope of the quality management system.
There is also a requirement of 7.5.1.1.d - to determine where CSRs are addressed.
