I just started work as a quality engineer for a tier1 automotive supplier. Our plant recently ceased full production on many programs, and we are becoming more focused on service or aftermarket parts for Ford, GM and Stellantis. We conducted annual layouts on all our parts while we were in full production, but we are not completely clear if this requirement still applies for service parts. Additionally, would our sub-suppliers also be required to conduct annual layouts for any components in our assemblies? Or, is this one of those requirements that is usually brought up during contract review?
