ERP generated docs

Hi all,

We have recently had an ERP system installed within our business. Do we need document control on the automated documents the system generates?

Depends. For instance if the output documents just report based on data within the ERP. And the ERP has a full audit trail on the data within it. Then you can determine the validity of the data as long as the output is dated.

However, if you control the format of the output, then you should have document control on it, because you may decide to change it and you would want to know which version had been outputted at any point in time without doing a field-by-field comparison.
