Measurement device display in control plan

I have a question regarding the visualization of measurement devices (for significant characteristics) displayed in a control plan. Let's consider an example of a measurement that is defined to be taken with a caliper. Is it correct to display the exact measurement device number that is on the shop floor, or should we simply put its name or the group codification of it, which may be misleading on the shop floor, also could this be considered as a non-conforming during cuatomer audits?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

There is not a specific requirement for this, so you should take the approach that works best for your situation. If it does not matter what caliper is used just state that a caliper is used. If it does matter and a specific caliper is required, then state the measurement device number of that caliper. Also take into consideration the ease of understanding of the shop floor employees using the measurement device and the control plan.
