Duplicating Reports for the Same Customer

Hello,

We are a small ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited Laboratory facing an interesting customer requirement: they basically want to have two copies of the same Test Report issued to different brands for the same product.

In other words: let's say they we test Product X Lot Y for Brand A (Customer A) and Brand B (Customer B).

Can we issue a test report for Customer A and another report for Customer B using the same sample information?

If product X, lot Y IS being used by both customers, then the same sample information applies; What other information would you use other than the same sample information?

I don't believe the information isn't still relevant because someone else requested it / It's being rebranded. If you retested the same product X, lot Y you'd probably produce slightly different results; This would be more questionable than rebranding a certificate.

I agree with EdenG. If the test report is for Product X Lot Y, then multiple copies of the report (as long as they reference the X, Y information) are fine (in my opinion)

This is a practice called Brand Labeling. Company A cannot make a certain product and sell it at a competitive price point, so they will purchase Company B's product and have it labeled with Company A's label. They will then use that product to fill a gap in their product offerings, typically at the lower end. There is no difference in the products beyond the label, so you customer's request makes perfect sense. They need a test report for their own purposes and another for their customer's purposes.

Yep I've done this whilst in a lab.
And I've had a report from a home appliance supplier that covered multiple other brands as well as the company I've worked for. For CE marking purposes etc
It's a know practice.

Thanks for all your feedback.

What happens if the sample name is slightly different for each brand? Lets say product is named "Science Sample Lot YZX" for company A and "Research Sample Lot XYZ" for company B.

Does it make sense to issue two different reports without testing the sample twice?

Could be as simple as writing a memo or report on equivalency between products

List each header from your design inputs and then list all products and if the products are nearly identical or identical and a rationale. If they are the only exempt column might be labeling
