Corrective Action for Supplier that Quality is not up to expectation. What is the best course of action?

I have a supplier that misses meetings, training, and order supplies. The supplier always has a excuse and not good at returning phone calls.

More specifics on the supplier-consumer relationship are needed. We need to understand who the supplier is to you.

That still doesn’t tell us much.
we really need very specific questions and situation descriptions to be helpful. Vague explanations just end in a long series of clarifying question from us…

Is this ‘supplier’ a different business company or is it an internal functional organization or person?
Are they a distributor or manufacturers of safety/first aid things?
Are these safety/first aid things custom designed for you or are they ‘off-the-shelf’ parts that anyone can buy?
What does your supplier contract say about there relationship with you?

The supplier supplies us with our AED, Bloodborne Pathogen Kits, Life Vacs, First Aid contents. There is no contract with this supplier.

So these items are "off-the-shelf" likely from a distributor.
Can I ask why you are conducting meetings and training with this supplier? What benefit is there from these meetings and trainings?
My guess is these items are not "intended for incorporation into the organization's own products and services"?

I agree with Qualitystartup. This type of supplier cannot be ‘controlled’ like a custom part manufacturer/supplier. It’s like trying to ‘control’ Walmart…why do you want to control them? Are they doing something you don’t like? (Other than not attending training or meetings with you)

They are training your employees?

If these items are not "intended for incorporation into the organization's own products and services" then I wouldn't say they were a "critical supplier". Yes, they may provide services that you deem critical to the safety of your employees, but according to ISO 9001/AS9100, they are not critical to your end product or service.

As I asked before, are there other suppliers you could look at? Can you get training provided through another company?
