Hello, I have an SQC pack question. I have an x-bar chart that is pulling data from a particular sheet of an excel file. For whatever reason, it is showing the data from each row of the excel file multiple times. (For example, the 6th most recent row shows up in my chart 4 separate times, with 4 sets of identical points). I am curious if anyone knows how I can go about correcting this issue, thanks!

Marty, are you able to share the Excel sheet and export the chart? If yes, please send these to: [email protected]. I should then be able to see what you are describing.

Hey Matt. It turns out that one of my co-workers accidentally exported some data into the excel file 5 separate times, and that was causing the issue. I appreciate your willingness to help however.

Hi there, I have another question. I am looking into creating a "data group." I want the date and time to automatically get input whenever an operator inputs data. I currently have my first column set as an identifier, date and time data type, with "smart insert" selected. However, when I go to input data, it asks me to input the date and time. I am curious what I have to do to ensure this is input automatically? Thank you!

Hi Marty,

Make sure your Date or Date/Time field is listed as an Identifier. Then the Smart Insert will automatically fill in the date/time from your computer when you go to data entry.

During data entry, the date/time is already filled in and I can focus on the measurement column(s).

Thanks!

I was able to figure that out but I have another data groups question. I have several parts where different dimensions are measured depending on whether it is a start up, 6 hour check, etc. I'm wondering if it is possible to only prompt people to input certain measurements depending on what answer they give for the "frequency" identifier. I am noticing now that not entering in values leads to blank places on the graph. Thank you!

There are a few options:
1. Do what you are doing now. When the chart is displayed, you might consider removing the missing values by using a chart Filter. The result in the chart will be one contiguous data line.
2. Instead of using a single data group with mixed sampling frequencies, consider creating two data groups that each share common sampling strategy. For example:
A.) Part No. 12345 - 6 Hour check frequency
B.) Part No. 12345 - 1 Hour check frequency

Hi there, I have anther question. I am trying to set up some Data Groups in SQC pack. I will be measuring the height of all 30 pins of a particular part. I would then like to have 3 "calculated" columns, that give the Min, max, and Median of the values for the pins. Is is possible to create a formula using the "formula builder" that calculates the minimum of all 30 pins? Thank you!
