Looking for guidance.

We are a component (C rating) MRO with total staff <10 people and only have 1 Component Certifying Staff CC/S. There are no other MROs in-country performing R&O on this type of component.

Unfortunately the CC/S will be leaving the organisationin 2 weeks. We have 5 jobs in progress all which have approximately 2 months to run. We have one Technician who is undertaking CC/S training but will need many months to be deemed competent.

How have others managed this type of situation before? Do you have any advice on the best way forward, in light of 5 jobs in progress?

Thanks kindly for all the responses.

Given the nature of the component, and resource limit with taking on staff, cross-training was a slow and lengthy process however we were not able to mitigate the most important position before the risk was realised.

We hope to gain a CC/S from Europe to fill the gap.

Starting to get Involved
This is where contingency planning and succession training comes into play.

EASA 145.A.35 (c) Regs state that a CS holder must have 6 months applicable product training/awareness training in the past 2 years.
Section (e) even states that the organisation SHALL have a procedure for continuation training.

SO may places ineffectively Audit themselves against the regs and get it wrong.

Hope you gt sorted - some follow up would be interesting.
