Product compliance process

Can someone share the process flow, SOP, or some explanation of how you manage RoHS/REACH compliance in your company?

I would like to know the responsibilities to monitor the regulation, issue supplier requests, etc. during the entire product lifecycle.

FIrst question what are you talking manufacturing, supply/distribution or end user of the product? Depending on your place in the chain your responsibilities can vary. We are metal finishers who provide certain products that are on the SVHC lists with some now part the orginal sunset date by several years. The action of whether we can apply the product is provided to us by our customer and through the end user, based on their requirements in specifications. Therfore my reach compliance is monitoring new items added to the SVHC and checking the ingredients of our products if their are matches i inform the customers of issues with product which we will provide.

We are manufacturers of standard electrical sub-assemblies (we own the design) that our customers use for their products which are then sold to the end users. Customers typically require RoHS and REACH compliance and declarations so we need to make sure our products are always in compliance and ready to provide a declaration at any point when asked.

First of then do your PO to your suppliers have the declaration that all products must be Rohs and Reach compliant? If not why not. Second this is the one i recieve a lot ask your suppliers to advise you of any products they use which are not Rohs or reach compliant and if any of the parts/product they supply to you have any of these items in on or around them. I advise of three finishes here which are SVHC and of specfication they are called up in. Usually its a once a year request from my customers and the majority have an exemption for use so here its not a major issue.

That's not my responsibility now, but in past positions my Quality Systems team would conduct and document an annual review of third party standards/directives to see if there had been any updates since the last check. If there were, we'd acquire the new document and review any procedures that were guided by the standard/directive and take appropriate action.
There are also services out there that will monitor this for you, for a fee.... they will notify you when a rev is changed and you can take action immediately.
I kept form letters for REACH and RoHS declarations and just sent them out as requested. Some customers want the parts that they purchase from you on the declaration so I would accommodate that if needed.

MSDS material safety data sheet from suppliers should reflect the status above " reach status /directive/cas # / SVHC status and other regulatory information regarding suppliers RoHS/REACH compliance , accordingly the down stream user could be judged

Hello,
Can you help me with this question-We are currently certifying the product to RoHS 3. Our customer is wanting us to certify it to China RoHS 2 as well. Can we do this? Is this equivalent? What do we have to do to certify it to China RoHS 2? Thank you.
