REACH assessment of PCBA/finished product

Hi all,
I have currently started a REACH assessment of a product and would like to confirm that I actually understood it right.
-Product is an electronics board in an enclosure. I have to ensure if any of the components (let's say power transistor assembled on a board) contains any SVHC above threshold. If it does contain e.g. lead, have to report it in a statement to end customer (regardless that weight is below threshold in the end product, as it is above threshold in the single part). The same will apply to mechanical parts. Correct?

Thanks for help!
Mike

Welcome Mike879! I am sorry for the delay in this response.

Walter Jager agrees with you in his paper Where are REACH SVHC in Electronic Products and Parts?

I would note, however that you mentioned informing the end user, but I expect that depends on what tier you are in. You would certainly notify those whom you sell your products to. They would, in turn be responsible for notifying the entities they sell (that which contains your reported parts) to.

The author adds that packaging is subject to the rules too.

Can your raw material suppliers provide test results? That is what I am used to seeing.

I hope this helps.

- Dear Mike

regarding REACH ; I see that the End user & downstream user should be more clear , the suppliers shall cooperate to send their materials registration” if applicable “ ; including any relevant SVHC & safety data sheets of all their materials ; test reports of relevant raw materials ; the registration #, the relevant REACH directives , --etc --this could be more reliable to avoid the duplication of the registration; including that you have to specify as end user the material quantities used for each components / batches , ---etc. -- I see that the submitted file should be contained the essential information , including your final products safety data sheet “ if applicable” , anyhow if SVHC is not applicable for all components used ; this issue could be more simple for your REACH process.
