Good morning-My organization is between the stage 1 and stage 2 certification process for both 9001 and 14001 and I just received notification of amendments. Are we expected to implement these amendments before stage 2 which is essentially in three weeks?

There is typically a grace period involved with changes but I'm hearing that CBs are already being told by the accreditation bodies that they should start addressing it immediately in audits.
I recommend calling your registrar right away and asking how they plan on covering it in the stage 2. And get that in writing in case the stage 2 auditor feels differently.

Based on the communique’s we got so far, the IAF expectation is that this has immediate effect. After all, according to them all the organizations in the world should be addressing “all the issues” that are relevant internally and externally all along.

You can’t make this up. Joke based thinking.

1st - There's nothing really to implement, just be able to answer yes or no to the question.

2nd- You've already got part of your answer by pursuing ISO 14001

3rd - You're setting environmental objectives based upon your internal reviews, environmental impact, context and all that stuff

4 - Don't get all wrapped around the axle.
