Complaints time series significant change

Most of the metrics I did were requested by management to be monthly, since they basically made decisions on a monthly basis, and anything more frequent than that would be ignored. Though, there was a set of "safety leading indicators" that senior management decided they wanted at the site level weekly so they could be alerted to any change quickly. It is a tradeoff of data processing costs, data overload on the decision makers, and how long can you wait until you discover a problem started one day after your last update.

Well sometimes weekly is the right subgrouping and sometimes it’s not. Only logic about how complaints are made and actually plotting the data are the only way to know. This is called rationally subgrouping. A little understood but crucial aspect of SPC.
