Management is about people?

In my opinion management is about you. Most leaders have strong and captivating personality. For instance, Elon Musk: what makes him a true manager? How did he manage to create companies as PayPal, SpaceX, and Tesla Motors. He's inspiring, innovative, fast-acting, ambitious. He is like a magnet that attracts you, grabs you. Some of his co-workers say, that they have become 10-times smarter with Elon. Then what we can learn from him:

1. Develop yourself (then people will be drawn to you)
2. Believe in yourself
3. Set boundaries (in order not to work 100 hours/week and not to sleep on the floor in the office)
4. Don't be afraid to fail

And remember:
"If you want to change the world, make your bed at first"

Kevin, I like your list. I would suggest having that same list apply to the people you lead. Develop your people, believe in your people, set hours boundaries for your people, allow your people to fail. The last one deserves another caveat - don't set your people up to fail.

I totally agree with you, Steve. As someone's quote says:"If you have a desire to change the world, you should begin it with yourself"

People management is a subset of human resource management that encompasses all of the organization's people acquisition, optimization, and retention procedures. It entails teaching, leading, and inspiring team members in order to increase workplace efficiency and professional advancement.

I absolutely agree to this. Things or products are a part and parcel of us. It is on people how we ensemble, produce, allocate and organize our resources.

Another way of putting this:

Never forget that our system should be helping our people do even better work.

Management doesn't equate to Leadership.......... So which is preferable?

Debate that one
