You may wish to read Suggested Evaluation criteria for Severity rating mentioned in AIAG Manual (Page 88). It speaks about 'Customer effect' which is applicable to End user and also 'Manufacturing/Assembly effect' which could be applied to your immediate Customer's as well as your inhouse production process.
If Customer's process is not capable of detecting a particular defect supplied, you can consider 'No effect' at your Customer end, provided it does not result in unsafe Customer operation.

Can anyone give a better clarity in addressing the effects ?
My understanding is , if a failure is detected, on the inhouse effect we should indicate whether to sort or rework or scrap. Should we also consider the detection here?

If certain defects are not noted by customer can we indicate no effect or what should we indicate?
