Quality Gurus: Question on Comparison of Philosophies: Deming, Crosby, Juran

Im not familiar with Schermerhorn, but most management system models are as similar or dis-similar as you choose to view them, certainly there are recurrent threads in most if not all of them along the lines of the four factors that you mention. The only one that sticks out to me is 'controlling' as it smacks of Taylorism or Webers Bureaucracy, or even McGregors Theory X and Theory Y. Is modern management about control, or in this day and age is it more about motivating and facilitating ?

What are your thoughts on how well each quality management model fits with the general mangement model presented by Schermerhorn (1966) eg, planning, leading, organising, controlling.

Additionally the conventional management does not inculcate the "IMPROVE' paradigm.

That's how the Demingites (or Juranites) differ from conventional managers.
"Hunting" rather than controlling.

Greenaway is never away from emphasising the role of motivating your People to improve.

An interesting question but where did Marx place the customer in the system he espoused?

Quality gurus focus on the needs and expectations of customers not the battle between capital and labor.

Workers’ cooperatives may be eternally successful if they placed the needs of their customers at least equal to their own. But I cannot find where Marx even acknowledges the importance of customers.

Wow, it's been a few years since I spent some time in discussing the gurus of Quality and reviewing that matrix brought back a lot of memories. After spending a few years studying the basic works of these men (while I myself was still a young man), it's good to look back in my retirement and see how much of that knowledge really impacted my career.

Thank you for you query, and for all the responses. It all makes me realize that maybe I didn't do so bad after all.
