New Quality Manager Audit Preparation

Starting to get Involved
Hi TacidBlue,
You could start by requesting/verifying the audit plan/agenda. Based on the scope, you can start your preparation. Not sure how much time you have until the audit. But what you could do is take the audit agenda, open up the standard next to it, and try to list the documents/employees involved per agenda topic that would confirm compliance.

Do you mean an audit of planned maintenance or a maintenance audit that was planned? One of your key starting points is to find what procedures or work instructions etc exist that should be in use in the area to be audited. Reading through those documents should enable you to build up an idea of the questions to put in a checklist, if that is your preferred approach

Yes, it's a Planned Maintenance Audit. The Client currently does not have a Maintenance system in place and the Team is using excel spreadsheets.

When you say "system", if they are using a procedure that involves the use of a spreadsheet, what is wrong with that if it works? There is no requirement in ISO9001 etc for them to have a computerised system.
Establish how they determine what items of equipment require planned maintenance, and how they determine what should be conducted when planned maintenance is undertaken. How are new items of equipment added (warranty work/repairs/settling-in activities too, etc) and how are decommissioned items removed from the requirement for maintenance. Is maintenance performed using external organisations or performed in-house? How are the qualifications and experience of technicians performing maintenance established and verified? Is a stock of spare parts held? What records are generated from performing maintenance? Is the maintenance interval adjusted depending on what is found when maintenance is performed? The list of questions is almost endless......

Thanks so much for the guidance, truly appreciate.
