Sorin:

DIA Portable is pretty neat. The rest of their portable apps on their site are good too.

I am in the beginnings of a QS9000 implementation at a small manufacturing company and it seems that flowcharting will be the best way to document procedures, work instructions and such. I am trying to decide what software we should purchase. I have already excluded Visio as it is at the top of the price list, and it's an MSnot product. :frust:
The packages I am currently considering are Allclear, ConceptDraw, Smartdraw and iGrafx Flowcharter. I would greatly appreciate input from people who have used any of these products. I am looking for the best features and drawbacks (particularly the ones that you don't find until after purchasing). I am particularly interested in features which are relative to the QS/ISO docuymentation process.
I like the process management system called isoware. You can find out more about it a iprocessmanager.com. When I leased the product, they gave me a free upload of up to 20,000 documents. Its really easy to use, and you don't have to have the IT guys get involved for changes like NC'S.

An old thread, with many pages to read through, but since my question ois related I thought I'd use this instead of clogging up the site with more threads.

If Viso is the most favoured of the payed for charting software, which is the best free one??

I'm only asking as I need to get one for my own use. I use the works 60 day trial visio but somehow I doubt they will get the full premium version. Is there anything out there that is free and close to Visio premium (or top version) in terms of performance, ease of use, etc.??

Got less than one month left of the trial so need ideas. Cheeky and cheapskate I know but sometimes you have to be. For my use of course.

I've used both SmartDraw and Visio..and for most uses either are sufficient. As SmartDraw is cheaper it might be the better way to go for most.

There are some advanced functionalities that exist in Visio that did not exist in SmartDraw when I last used it (at least 7 years ago); but for most those functionalities are not used.
