Is SPC (Statistical Process Control) useful?

Well let's see. I work in Contractor Assurance and as I sit here right now I am making control charts (and Pareto Charts) of all of our corrective action, self assessment, and management observation data by each of our 24 "functional areas" (Occupational Safety and Health is one) for the functional area personnel to do an end of the year analysis of the 'health' of their function.

minudil2000: is there any particular reason why you think it isn't useful?
what prompted you to think about it?
how much do you know about it?

It's as good a tool as any that takes data and orgnaizes it in a way that your eyes and brain can process what you're looking at in a single shot. You say SPC, I say goob-ah gah. Goob-ah gah is a way that data is organized in a single column with data most displaced directly in the center and spreads out from the middle to top and bottom equally disbursed. There are other names for other ways of grouping numbers named different things but at the end of the day they all do the same thing.
Geeze I almost forgot the reason I'm here.. now hear me out, I mean no disrespect ok? Seriously, I'm curious... You're a quality engineere and you don't know what SPC is? If yes, pleeeeease tell me, how old you are?? You see, I saw this coming!! I want to know if it's actually here or not yet.

It is interesting to me that this thread started in 2007, was resurrected in 2012 and again in 2020, and now again in 2023. I don't think the OP is gonna respond.

Yes, they are no longer active. You can tell by the lack of a link on their username.
