How to Effectively Apply Short Run SPC

the GR&R result composed of 10 parts, the data i presented came from 1 of the parts being measured during MSA.

this is a distance data, hole to hole edge requirement

the std measurement is 46.4 + 0.7 mm, we measure this to monitor the wear of the locator to ensure the correct location of the hole.

thank you so much for computing the data i provided...
i will present the data you made to my boss, because he also has no idea how to analyze the data we are gathering....

thank you so much for your time...

I have attached a distribution chart with specifications and a X-MR chart for review. From the distribution, it appears that you are not having any trouble with capability. As far as charting, it is still not clear where the variation is coming from. It looks to me like a combination of measurement and warm-up, perhaps some die slop. Still need to ponder the data some more, but I figured I would post what I have charted in case others wanted to ponder the data also.

I think the next thing I would like to see is some long term data, that may show shifts from raw material lots or set-ups. Do you have any of that data handy?

If you are using the newer version of Excel, save it as an .xls file by save as Excel 2003 worksheet. I ran into that problem, and it fixed it.

Is this being stamped as a progressive die or is it stage tooling after the part is blanked?
That is a tremendous amount of variation for a Progressive Die.
I am sorry - I did not see, is this data all from 1 run or spread out over several runs?
As a fellow stamper - I am enjoying trying to troubleshoot this from "afar".....

this is not a progressive die, the product has 3 processes & we are monitoring this during piercing process.

the data also came from 4 production runs, this is why we are not sure if we are using the correct technique...

What process do you want to apply short run SPC to? Makes a big difference.
