And, once again, they want the world to trust the integrity of the data. Just found out this: an Australian business unit of a major US corporation being listed as certified to ISO 9001:2008 and "updated" of a few days ago. How is that possible? Accredited certificates to the 2008 Edition of ISO 9001 should have been either cancelled or transitioned to the 2015 Edition no later than September 2018. Sad.

To me, it is quite evident that this will fail massively, and in a short time (2 years tops). Most of the large CB's are not participating (surprise, surprise), what undermines hugely the value of this data; after all any database that is significantly incomplete is, by definition, useless.
Well, the failure I so easily predicted is upon us. The people behind this database are now on a massive campaign attempting to gather "support" to make it mandatory. Proof of this can be perused @ IAF Certification Validation - IAF CertSearch

Pathetic, just pathetic how some of these bureaucrats never learn.

Now, as the failure of the IAF Certsearch database is upon them, they are scrambling to find ways to salvage the situation. In https://iaf.nu/en/faq/#tabs-34 there are several hints of the desperate moves to turn the fiasco around. IAF is trying to save face and QualityTrade is obviously attempting to salvage the monetization of this database.

I had predicted the database failure in this very thread and I can't help to be astounded by the utter incompetence and ineptitude of the people behind this debacle. They don't use the basic aspects of assessing context, proper planning and execution. Pathetic.

News today (from LinkedIn) that the IAF is making participation in their database MANDATORY. I predict some fierce resistance from many CB's. Time will tell if they will be able to succeed where others have failed.

It will be interesting to see how the IAF will cascade the mandate to the Accreditation Bodies, who, in their turn will have to flow the hammer down onto the Certification Bodies. Enforcement and monitoring will be a pain in the derriere.....

They have no idea of what they are doing...

This should be interesting. Do you think there are any ABs who will oppose this or just some CBs?

Clause 4.8 of IAF ML4 states: "Any amendment of the text of this Multilateral Recognition Arrangement shall be approved by the IAF membership." Do you know whether this would require approval of these changes to be unanimous, a simple majority, or something else?

I don’t know the answer to your questions. But it is crystal clear (to me) the greed to monetize this database became the driving force behind this move to make the reporting mandatory. As such, it will fail. Greed is never a long term strategy.

A month later and still NO confirmation about this in the IAF and the IAF Certsearch Database websites. A wasp nest...
