There used to be a site called "whosregistered" where you could look up company's to make sure they are registered. It seems to be defunct. Does anyone know where I can find out what registrars are certified for what?:bigwave:

If you are looking for information about Registrar's scope of accreditations, you can search in the different Accreditation Bodies' directories. ANAB's, for example is available via their (broken link removed)

Hi Sidney,
Thank you very much for the post on ANAB.
Is there a way i can also verify an Accredited CB for TS16949?
I am curently in the process of evaluating registrars and some may know what were their experiences on some CB? i.e. DQS-UL? TUV? DNV? SGS? LRQA?
Where can i possibly search for the evaluation of these registrars?
Thank you very much in advance for the usual prompt attention you will give this request. :thanx:
Best regards,

Looks like it's been a while since any Cover's have needed a new registrar.

My small company (automotive chemicals, SE Michigan, 21 people) has become quite unhappy with headquarters service from our current registrar. :bonk:

Would welcome interest from any registrar personnel interested in quoting ISO TS 16949 and ISO 14000. Our requirements: Available auditors, preferably within reasonable distance of SE Michigan. Send me a PM if you're interested. Prefer to have the same auditor for TS and 14000.

Would also welcome feedback from any TS registered firm who would endorse their registrar. -- I recognize that some may prefer not to speak up to criticize their incumbent; that's OK. Hopefully some are positively happy and can recommend!

Thanks to all,

Brad

My experience is limited, but what I've done is shop for an auditor I respect, and deal with whatever CB they're affiliated with.

When I shop CBs, I ask to interview a couple of auditors. If they can't help me I keep looking.

My first auditor was tough but he raised the bar every time he came around, until we ran out of things to get excited about. That benefited everybody.

I'm entering the same curve with a new auditor and employer. Never a dull moment.

This is not always practical. Sometimes there's a limited pool to choose from and they want to fly candidates in at your expense, which is not viable.

That idea is a nice luxury, to interview auditors and then select, but it is not always practical. Perhaps if the auditor is local, or a new auditor with an empty schedule, they could stop by for a visit. But, for experienced auditors, our schedules are generally very packed months in advance. It is uncommon that I have the availability to visit a prospect that would like to meet me first, unless perhaps, I am local, or will be in that area. If you insist on that, you run the risk of getting a rookie assigned. Then further, even if you like the auditor, after a few years they are likely to cycle out and a new one is assigned.

As far as recommending registrars, I am a CB auditor, so I realize my recommendation is not completely unbiased. However, I am also a consultant, and have to frequently make recommendations to my clients.

As an independent, I can chose which CB's to affiliate with. I have chosen to affiliate with Smithers Quality Assessments, and am beginning to develop a working relationship with NQA-USA. I selected both of these organizations because I feel they both do good work for their clients, try to be customer focused, and try to provide value-added services, and have integrity. I have chosen to affiliate with them for that reason.

I would also suggest to be very careful if you are considering Eagle. I used to recommend them, and have clients registered with them. But they appear to have changed and become much more difficult to deal with, especially in TS.

Good luck in your search...

Russ, could you provide the basis of your recommendation? It's always important to know why a recommendation is made...
