Thanks Geoff,

Now I realize why people need to write books titled "Learning to see". ;)

I am interested in taking the CQA/OE exam in probably 2 or 3 years, depending on how far along I get through some studying. I wrote the sample exam without really studying specifically for it just out of curiosity and got a fairly decent mark. Does anybody know if this is a good indication of how prepared I would be??? It seems a lot easier than I originally thought it would be, although I do have to admit a lot my answers were technically a guess, they seem to have a bit of common sense to them, for lack of a better term. - not intended to **** off any CQE/OE's here. lol:tg:

If I may, I would like to offer my suggestions. I have six ASQ certifications, have taught numerous classes for certification, and I have worked with ASQ in developing the exams. Far and away the best thing you can do in preparation, if ypu can, is to make contact with your local ASQ section, go to meetings, and ask questions of the quality professionals you will meet there. I would also go to ASQ's website, to the Certification discussion board, and look over the many words of advice given there.

I suspect English is not your native language, from which I infer you are not located in the USA. Probably no close ASQ Sections.

  1. Will you please tell us more about yourself?
  2. Where are you located? Country? City?
  3. Since you've also inquired about regulatory affairs, are you and your company currently required to comply with USA regulations?
  4. If not, are you planning to do business in the USA soon?
  5. If yes to either #3 or #4 above, what industry?
  6. Do you have an idea of which ASQ certification you would like to earn?
  7. Do you have a lot or a little experience in your industry?
In general, the more we can narrow the scope of what you need or want, the more specific and pertinent our answers will be.

Excellent advice Geoff. I am taking a Basic QA Certification at the local college and brought up my interest in pursuing ASQ certification in my introductory speech in the first class. The instructor happens to be about equally involved in ASQ as you are and is pushing me to get going with it. We have been talking quite a bit about this and I have started to study for CQE. I'm planning on going to some of the local meetings starting in January. Things are super busy at home with a newborn and 2.5 year old. So even going to class once a week plus an online course and full time work is pretty tough.
