Hey

You have been thanked hundreds of times in dozens of posts and never felt the need to respond. I should be flattered. I take it back. Thanks Atul!! I know I'm in for it now. :agree:

I see the view thing, now. If I click read new posts, which we all do, there's another view of the same post. So, out of a 100 views, 98 could be just me deliberately inflating the number or admiring my work :vfunny:

I've been trying to get the gist of all this and my head is starting to hurt.

To ask someone "What have you been smokin' that you ain't been sharing" would be out of line? I guess just saying "That was one of the silliest or most ignorant things I've ever heard" would be nicer. Ignorant of course meaning "the lack of understanding or knowledge"

This is all so clear

If you disagree with something, why does it have to be "What have you been smokin' that you ain't been sharing" or "That was one of the silliest or most ignorant things I've ever heard"? Why can't it be "I disagree and here's why"? If I posted in good faith and was seeking advice about something, why should I be made to feel foolish in a public forum? That's inviting a remark back in kind. Now we have hard feelings and a verbal jousting match. You often respond with those type of remarks and I and other members have taken exception to those types of responses. It's not being sensitive. It's responding to someone who forgets that everybody is not as intelligent as they think they are. This last sentence that I just posted would require a caution to "not get personal", as well as your remarks listed above. You are a Moderator and shouldn't have to ask that type of question. Demeaning someone who asks a question or makes a statement can be handled with a little more tact, if you disagree. Your question regarding the use of the word "ignorant" is better answered off line or in the Moderator's Threads. ;)

May I ask why? Do you think that us lowly users "can't handle the truth"? :vfunny:

What has 'truth' got to do with it? I go out of my way to avoid using the word ignorant when referring to another person and you can too. I wouldn't call my grandmother 'ignorant' to her face or otherwise whether I believe she is or is not. It is simple politeness and consideration of the feelings of others. But I agree it is the context the word is used in.

Just think of this as the Readers Digest forum where people are polite to each other and jokes are 'cute'. Randy, you're taking this way beyond where it has to go.

Marc,
I bet the fact that your grandmother would also pull you by the ear might have an influence on how you behave in her presence. Bet?
