So is climate change ‘relevant’ to many organizations - sure. But HOW the heck do you interpret what the addition to the standard says.
That’s the crux of the matter. Imagine a scenario where an auditorsaurus is performing an ISO 9001 audit of an oil and gas company. This organization identified climate change as a relevant and significant issue. Interviewing top management, this auditorsaurus is told that the organization is gradually and slowly ramping up investments in renewable energies with focus on offshore wind power and floating photovoltaic systems. So, what? Does this auditorsaurus ignoramus who knows nothing about renewable energy start delving into that? How? What baseline 9001 requirements will he try to fit in that mold? Questions abound.

Meanwhile, some people in some of the ISO committees who have done the political work on behalf of ISO’s general secretary want to be praised for this asinine feat.

And, now, some of those who like to carry water for ISO are developing “articles” to attempt to justify the wisdom of having climate change in standards such as 9001. Futile attempts to connect business disruption to effects of climate change. Once again, they don’t want to recognize the slippery slope and the pandora box possibilities. Risk. Based. Not thinking. I guess philosophers will “philosophize”.

Thirty years ago be registered to ISO 9001 was differential factor and a competitive advantage. Now it’s not.
In countries that started earlier with 9001 registrations, the number of registered organizations is not increasing, and in some cases is going down, every year.
I never liked the change from “quality assurance”, to “Quality management”. What customers want is that you assure quality, not that you have a system to manage quality…
Now this “brilliant” idea of introducing climate change (and probably other “nice” ideas) on a Quality Standard, will make more and more organizations out of this registration.

Shame on you Antonio for being so visionary and honest. You know good and well how harmful honesty can be.

Isn't this essentially the same thing we have been hearing with every revision? Has it really made a difference? Been pivotal?

It was a very well worded post for a first post. I ran a question thru CHATGPT regarding the new version and got a similar ‘well worded’ response.
Note that I don’t agree with the post - I am much more in Antonio’s & others’ camp. I just found the post odd…almost a non sequitor
