Golfman, I have reviewed April IATF Rome meeting slides and have built a pseudo 16949:2016 spec. It is significantly different to ver 2009.

iatfglobaloversight.org link has the latest update regarding this transition from ISO/TS 16949:2009 to IATF 16949:2016. Interesting that they mention to publish the IATF 16949 standard as a separate document and maintain a strong collaborative relationship between ISO and the IATF.

I have just quickly visited the IATF website and found something interesting on the top page. Since this is open to the public anybody can access and see the document. Hope you enjoy the attachment... On another topic, the new version of IATF 16949 is now open to CBs and other interested parties. I had a chance to talk with an TS auditor about the new version of the automotive standard and he told me there have been quite a number of new or modified requiredments, many of which are a refelction of current developments surrounding the automotive industry across the globe...

I was reading through the document on IATF website, and noticed the wording "IATF 16949:2016 is not a stand-alone quality management standard, but is implemented as a supplement to, and in conjunction with, ISO 9001:2015." In other words, to be prepared in timely manner, would it be helpful to get ISO 9001:2015 standard first and start preparing the quality manual, then when IATF 16949 comes out, then edit the manual to satisfy IATF 16949 requirement is a safer option?

Any opinions or advice?

I am wondering if the new standards, ISO 9001:2015 and IAFT 16949, will be combined in 1 CB audit or if we now have to schedule 2 separate registration audits in 2018. Does anyone know the rules concerning that? With ISO/TS16949 it was pretty simple.

Thank you, Sebastian, for the interesting insight. As the devil is always in the details, we have to wait and see what exactly will be required from suppliers concerning corporate ethics, anticorruption policies, whistleblower procedures, etc. but risk-based thinking about this and realizing the context of third party certification, I can easily identify the potential for misguided auditors to
create havoc during an audit if they decide to be the ethics cop on the block.

The press release also infers no additional costs for the supplier base to comply with this new requirement. Where are the fact-checkers when we need them?

It remind me one of PSA Customer Specific Requirements related to customer communication:

transparency on work progress and duty to warn (without specific means for achieving this)

From time to time we hear about price fixing or other activities which force customer to mistrust its supplier, so maybe it echoes new (bad) business practices.
