What to expect during an ISO 9001 audit

Nothing to panic over an audit. Be honest with the auditors. A finding is not bad at all, after are we are paying the CB to check on our compliance with standards. What use would it be if we hide anything, wont be getting any improvement then.

In my experience of audit. The auditor completes the requirment laid down in clauses of ISO 9001, 14000, 145001. In ISO 9001 since it is quality audit first he would like to know about the Managment commitment to quality, quality policy. During its perfomance, then he would like to see the organisation commitment towrds quality as perceived by its stake holder, Now since stake holder has come into picture it will come to role, responsibility, authority of every member, leader producing the product and services to customer, how he fulfills the requirment as mentioned by organisation in its procedure, rule book etc. As commitment towards quality he would like to see the evidence for every action either mentiobally verbally or mentioned in documents.
So audit is not a show case to show all good things but to show what is mentioned with phyical evidence of the mentioned thing.

In 9001:2015 what exactly is an auditor looking for on "Control of nonconforming outputs" for evidence? The audit is being doing on Zoom so we have to take pictures of our evidence.

Show how you stop nonconforming items from being used. How you decide on their disposition and how repair and use as is dispositions are approved. Show evidence of re-verification of rework and repair and what records you keep.

Nonconforming services are very different, as you can imagine.

What @John Broomfield said. So, for example if your process is something like:
  • We put defective parts into these special bins.
    • We put tags on the parts to say what is wrong
  • (job role) moves the bins to the nonconforming product rack.
  • (job role or team) reviews the defective product on the nonconforming product rack and decides what to do with it.
    • The decisions are entered into XYZ software system.
  • (job role) follows the decisions and processes the return-to-vendor or scrap decisions. (job role) handles any decisions escalating to a corrective action.

If nonconforming product comes back from a customer:
  • (job role) receives the product against an issued RMA#
    • An RMA tag is attached to the N/C product
    • The product is placed on the RMA rack
    • We perform repair, etc.....

So you might then want to have pictures of the bolded items:
  • N/C bins on the floor
  • N/C tag - real example if possible
  • N/C product rack
  • XYZ software - screenshot of NC decision records
  • screenshot of issued RMA
  • RMA tag - real example if possible
  • RMA rack

Just for fun - Crispy chicken strips w/Honey Mustard and Coke Cherry Zero can help everything go smooth......That's what a client told me last week ( we still identified a couple "minor" issues)
