Any resource that goes into a transformation process can generate waste when not used in the most effective, efficient manner.
In addition to the obvious waste we are familiar with, we must also consider how waste impacts environmental issues. Excessive or inappropriate use of materials, energy, water, packaging, etc., adds huge costs to our products and services.
Clearly, the goal must be to eliminate waste in the transformation process, thereby, preventing waste from becoming an output.
