You are not the first. Over 345,000 organizations have registered to ISO 9000 by early 2001.
A main point to remember as you traverse this tome is that each company is different. There is no way I can address every possible type and size of company. The contents represent the basis of a methodology I have used over the last 8 years in implementing ISO 9001 and QS-9000 (now IATF 16949) in facilities as large as 10,000 souls, as small as 8 persons, in companies as large and complex as Motorola, as ‘unusual’ as Harley-Davidson, and as unique as an insurance company. The methodology is structured. Very structured. How closely you follow the path will depend upon your specific circumstances and needs as well as your own beliefs. Some companies go slowly. Some companies do not want a complex project plan. Some companies insist on a complex project plan. But, more on this later.
As much as anything else, you will have to assess my recommendations with consideration to your circumstances.
